You are correct. If in danger, any object within reach can become a tool (weapon) and if none at hand, you can be the weapon out of survival necessity. Nothing has changed since our ancestors slept in trees for safety.

I once told my daughter, rather asked her, are you willing to burst a rapist's eye to defend herself? Not looking for an answer but wanting her to think in those terms during a conversation. And being able to stand and move is NOT a requirement, you can defend yourself without being able to get up.
