For those of y’all asking — we’re way north of the Hill Country, and are completely safe.

Our hearts go out to those who have lost family, or are anxiously awaiting news. This time — especially for parents — is gut-wrenching, and we can’t imagine the stress y’all are going through.

We’d like to thank the first responders, the neighbors, and those who are stepping up. Y’all give us hope.

As usual, the Cajun Navy, the Coast Guard, H-E-B, and hundreds of others are quietly racking up hero points — just because that’s what is done. Bless all of you.

As for those who are making political hay out of this — there are a double handful of young girls missing. If your first thought is to jump on social media to score points either way — you should probably go look in a mirror and try to find if there’s anything left of your humanity.

And — quite honestly — you should be punched in the face. A lot.

There will be the rest of history for analysis, study, recriminations, and pontificating — now is not that time. Allow time for rescue; for recovery; and for grieving. Your personal political punching bag will still be there after the tears are done — a little patience, of your decency.
