Every time a political issue comes up regarding American rights that the Leftist side of the house disagrees with, you can bet your bottom dollar that teacher’s unions — and individual teachers — will hit the soapbox to weigh in against those rights, citing the safety of the children.
Every shooting that makes the national news, sure as morning follows midnight you’re going to see at least one official from a teacher’s union in front of microphones, solemnly intoning, “The Second Amendment is bad, m’kay?”
If it’s for the children, it must not only be the truth, but sacrosanct.
The government panics over COVID, starts issuing idiot restrictions — hey, there’s a representative from a teacher’s union, up in front of cameras, telling us how we must knuckle under for the safety of the children.
Everyone knows that if teachers invoke the “safety of the children” it must not be impugned, right?
Children thinking about mutilating themselves, and first thing you know, there’s a teacher being interviewed about nobly keeping this information away from the parents of the children — for safety’s sake, you understand.
Teachers protecting children is a holy calling, and can only be from the purest of intentions, everyone knows that.
“For the safety of the children — guns are bad!”
“For the safety of the children — parental rights are bad!”
“For the safety of the children — freedom of speech (that we don’t like) is bad!”
“For the safety of the children — [Insert Conservative viewpoint here] is bad!”
Huh.
Recently Buffalo (New York) Police Department Detective Richard Hy went public with allegations that the Buffalo School System has been engaged in:
Intentionally and knowingly obstructing law enforcement investigations into sexual assault, assault, and kidnapping incidents against children in the care, custody, and control of the Buffalo School System;
Intentionally and knowingly concealing criminal episodes involving children in the care, custody, and control of the Buffalo School System from the parents of these children, and local law enforcement; and
Recklessly, or with criminal negligence, failing to comply with mandatory reporting requirements.
Among other alleged violations that seem to be surfacing. I stress that currently these are allegations, but we are assured that the Buffalo School System is conducting a “thorough” “external investigation”1.
One of the eye-opening things that are coming out — even for someone as cynical as I am — is the fact that while this may not be considered “the norm” for school systems2, it damned sure isn’t uncommon.
Given the fact that teacher’s unions and School Districts seem to be prioritizing their reputations over reporting crimes against the students under their care; apparently would rather stonewall criminal investigations than protect their students; and have no issue lying to parents and law enforcement regarding violent crimes perpetrated against the children we not only entrust them with, but hand them tax money to do so …
… Maybe y’all should keep your self-righteous, sanctimonious, deceitful cake-holes bloody well shut when it comes to public pronouncements invoking the safety of students for awhile3, m’kay?
Nothing but love, you hypocritical bugsnipes,
Ian
I can’t believe I managed to type that with a straight face.
Yet.
Like, say, the next three forevers?
Until the students start paying dues to the teacher's union, the union will not give a shit about the students, and neither will the administrators or most teachers.
Equally damning is that BPD and their DA's office did not pursue the issue with effort....
