One group you need to add are the 72-80 years olds who spent their youth in the jungles and Central Highlands of SVN, killing the VC and NVA Regulars. And in some cases, conducting cross border ops in Cambodia, Laos and North Vietnam. Many of them are undoubtedly all out of fucks to give regarding the left’s and far left’s shenanigans since POTUS’s re-election. The thought of an SF, SEAL, or MACV-SOG vet going operational again should scare the shit out of them, and if it doesn’t, they are terminally stupid.

And some of those old, hard men were mentors to some of us in the other aforementioned groups.

Terminally Stupid... I like this term... a lot. The problem I see is that... that isn't a legal defense, and neither is, He was askin fer it. If they were well we wouldn't be so worried.

Worth bearing in mind how many people join Cause du Jour not because they earnestly feel for the cause, but because some part of them understands that if they express hate, threaten, intimidate, slander, steal from, even assault Enemies of Cause du Jour, they not only get to gratify their inner monster, but they will be praised for it and given a cookie. And as the Cause du Jour shifts and creeps to match the priorities of the organizers, their values and "morality" will unquestionably shift and creep with it, because it's now all about the hate, the cruelty, the permission to torment, harm, and brutalize others. As evidenced by all the people who were fervently circulating "Punch a Nazi" memes a few years ago who are now painting swastikas on the homes and businesses of Jews and busting their windows.

Most people want to be proud about what they are doing. A sense of mission and job satisfaction counts for a lot too. Applies to the Orcs and the Good Guys.

It is a Feature and NOT a Bug.

Every so often, an American Municipality, City, County, and/or State government decides that it's gonna play 'games' with what they do and what they enforce. They do this so they can complain about how they need more taxes and so VITAL services (police & fire, it's always police & fire) are cut.

Then, eventually, the populace goes about and starts killing criminals in obvious self-defense (and sometimes said criminals just start dying violent deaths and no one can figure out 'why' though it's pretty damn obvious).

And suddenly the government realizes that it is Losing Control, and it had damn well better start prosecuting those crimes and enforcing those laws and arresting those people.

I've seen this happen. More than once.

Of course in some parts of the country, the people are a lot more willing to suffer than others, but there is always that straw that does the trick. Tyrants gotta tyrant and we elect far too many to office.

Remember, prohibition was repealed because juries were not finding people guilty - and the government, especially the courts, hate jury nullification with a passion.

Oh, I am worried about it. About finding myself believing that all lesser means have failed or can not reasonably be employed, and that it's time to start stacking. I don't want to be there. As long as the people we have hired to take out the trash do their jobs, everything is fine. It's when they quit doing, or being allowed to do their jobs, that the local uplift society ends up being formed. No one should want that, because I don't know where that ends.

At the beginning of any war - or Civil War - one side or the other or both usually thinks "all we have to do is to give the other side one short, sharp *SHOVE*, and the other side will realize OurTrueRighteousness™, and we'll get our way and it'll all be over.

They are almost always wrong and the short, sharp, shove turns into something much longer and much bloodier.

Civil Wars are *always* the meanest, nastiest, ugliest of wars. "Them" appears and disappears like a ghost and could be around any corner at any time ready to do nasty things to you with sharp objects or rapidly-expanding gas. The solution is to hurt any possible *them* before they can hurt you. The big problem is that *they* see the same thing, but in a mirror.

And finally: every Revolution is *also* a Civil War.

One more, really finally: If I was in Moscow or Beijing and my job was doing SecretSquirrelStuff™ to advance my country and hurt the US, I'd have lots of 'bots trying to convince people that their side is the only one on the side of the angels and that they need to tear the other guys apart. I would, of course, be doing it to *both* sides, hoping to push someone into doing something incredibly stupid.

For example.... I'd try to convince one side to light fires at, say... Tesla dealerships, while convincing the other side that those dirty libtarddemonrat dogs were burning thousands of Teslas every day and that they needed to be *stopped* by any means necessary. Naturally I'd try to obscure how many incidents are *really* happening so both sides get over-excited.

You cannot discount the possibility that there are also groups within our government running some of those 'bots; false flags are fine ways to create those crises which should never go to waste.

One sad thing about civil wars is that many of the participants might not get a say in what side they're fighting & dying for. The impressment of unwilling peoples into the ranks is a long and well-developed skill, especially if your family is on the wrong side of a front line that suddenly appeared.

I can remember when "We had to destroy the village in order to save it" was a seen as a credulous quote by some people. That was in a war assisting an ally to help them save their democracy. They never really had a democracy and still don't. Never will.

Some of those monsters are in my family hence the mute for 30 days button on FB. I am now a resident of a small town in Texas. I don’t go to the big city at all, it would be a “just my luck the world blew up and I walked home.” Kind of thing happening. While I have deep concerns about

Russia, North Korea, China, and Saudi missions or partnerships they might be the lesser problem. when you get heretics in any way, shape or form it is always a game changer. They bring an A-bomb to a knife fight. No winner but they are sure they will go to heaven.
