Bergoglio and the communist segment in the Vatican need to go and be replaced by conservative traditionalists(assuming there are any remaining). Grew up in Argentina and Uruguay, so am well aware of the genesis of the current state of things. Sigh!

I'll bet you know those South American Liberation Theology moonbats better than most, Edward. Pope John Paul II most be rolling over in his grave at the antics of Pope Francis. Francis is doing irreparable harm to the church.

Agree on both Aspects mentioned. Sadly the Lib Theology is also infecting the U.S. clergy and higher education. Suspect a new pope will be chosen soon. Going to be interesting to see what happens as the pendelum appears to be moving right again.

Sadly, the Catholic Church elected an atheist to be the pope, which of course is stupid as all hell and how did he even become a bishop in the first place?

I'd make a better pope, by far.

As for the coming collapse, *shrugs* I've been seeing it coming for years, which is why I moved to where I now live. As a society we are living solely on inertia now. I have no idea how long it will last, and I have no idea what will come next.

But whatever happens, it ain't gonna be pleasant and a lot of people are going to die.

Because that's how these things always go.

I'm sure the dark ages that follow will be interesting - if we're lucky, maybe we'll get a nice cyberpunk dystopia with Elon Musk's Cat Girls.

I left the church in the early 1970s. I was a kid, grade school, at church when I realized these people looked down on me, no money, and very cliquey. The enlightenment came actually in church. I realized if I lived the Ten Commandments I would be a decent human. That my actions should and must be the same as my word.

These days have certainly been both enlightening and heartbreaking.

The Lord protects drunks, fools, and the United States of America. Have hope, sir.

Indeed, Jaded Nurse, and He can also rain down thunderbolts and turn people into pillars of salt. Not my place to criticize or second guess Him, but where is the fire & brimstone, the plague of frogs? It is axiomatic that troops in the field have better hope when they have good air support and artillery.

I frequently say that God is very big, and we are very small. In some ways, Xiden's handlers stealing the election may have saved the country by giving the Trump team time to build the coalition wrecking department after corrupt department. Christ nearly destroyed the Roman empire simply through the establishment of charity for the poor in His name. That was ultimately why the Christians displaced the worshipers of the Roman pantheon. The Lord thinks on much longer time scales than we do, and we do not always recognize His vengeance for what it is. Even within the Church itself, it has been corrupted before and will be corrupted again. The reckoning will always come, but we won't always recognize it for what it is except in hindsight.
