This whole thing has actually been done to someone I know, here in the USA.
The Oregon 'Mandatory Suicide Law' - oh wait, that's supposed to be 'Voluntary Assisted Suicide' isn't it?
Well it AIN'T (Or at least wasn't, I have no idea where it is now having fled the People's Republic of Oregon - a state that is pure commie now).
Someone I knew had terminal cancer. I Knew this person. They were determined to live as much of their life as possible - right up until Oregon said (this is a FACT) 'We're only going to pay for you to kill yourself - because that's the cheapest option and you MUST take it'.
Yup, so much for all those arguments that they wouldn't do everything they could to get grandma to off herself. Only instead of family members doing it, it was the STATE.
I honestly don't know how it all played out in the end. If they won their fight against the state to get their benefits back or not - because I didn't want to add to the family's grief and they did pass by the year's end.
But there was someone who was all for 'assisted suicide' and said this would never happen, and didn't have any answer when I showed them this case. I came very close to performing a performative dance, with all sorts of instruments, upon their body.
This leads back to my prior comment on this subject. Family members seeking justice outside the law as this is now legal and or pushed many places. I can't even fathom a doctor being involved in this.
Well I can sorta as I know some doctors that have created concierge practices to get out from under government and insurance control. As well as a handful that just retired so they didn't have to deal with all the bullshit. The fact that some are fleeing this sort of stuff says that there are some that aren't
They're only one step away from making organ harvesting mandatory for the death penalty, and with all the "Good" that comes from that, expect a lot more death sentences.
I recall a similar story about torture. Where a guy was drafted to be on a team of torturers, only for the most dire of emergencies when they needed to extract a confession and the location of a kidnapped child. As the story progressed, the rationale broadened again and again. And then the Judge or legislator who put him there found himself at the man's hands for a traffic violation, and he was finally less unwilling....
Patients in the US are also experiencing pressure to choose assisted suicide, too. I know this because I have a family member who has been experiencing that pressure for the last 10 years.
My family member, a LEO, had a life-changing incident 16 years ago, which left her as a borderline quadriplegic in her 20's. Care for such a person is expensive. About ten years ago, her Medicaid physician started pushing her to request assisted suicide, which is legal where she lives (Colorado).
We have politicians who want to provide free health care for illegal aliens, but a young disabled LEO is offered euthanasia, HERE IN THE US. We aren't much better than our Canadian neighbors.
Here lies the road to modern China. I suppose harvesting the organs of your political opponents and minority classes is worse. The dividing line between this and them though is awfully small. The dividing line between ethically ok and either of them is so far away you cant even see it.
Sign me up as experiencing those chill's also. It isn't going to go well. Once there is a profit it's a guarantee of abuse. Once there is abuse in a life and death action such as this it is murder for profit. I can see it ramping up to many hundreds or thousands a year harvested.
Wonder what these doctors are thinking. In our western societies that weapons are available, the potential for some family member that you murdered their relative to then decide to seek justice is very much not a non zero chance. Even in societies that don't allow weapons, any given sports store sells baseball bats. Doctors are not exactly hardened targets.
The likely hood of this happening is massively greater than say a family member going after a medical malpractice death. In medical malpractice there is a legal remedy. I don't see much of one here. If the doctor gets them to sign something, even if they don't realize what they are doing, then after the fact it looks legal. Well lets call a spade a spade, it is legal. No recourse legally for family etc..
Just horror.
I removed myself from organ donation many years ago. I actually would lean toward do it based on my own beliefs. However even many years ago stories have come out about the dangers of being harvested due to deliberate letting someone die because they are an organ donor and matched someone the doctor knew about. I changed my donor status after hearing about the second case. Makes me sad but it currently moves me a couple steps away from being an unwilling donor.
In my country, you are automatically an organ donor at age 18 unless you opt out. This is insidous, because someone who voluntarily offers to become an organ donor is regarded as an altruistic hero, where as people who opt out are regarded as selfish and anti-social.
I opted out for various reasons, an important one being that each hospital in my country has its own protocol for organ donation. To put it bluntly, how hospital deals with organ donation depends on where you had that car accident. That kind of arbitrariness does to instill confidence.
I have been thinking about your comment of donors treated like hero's and if not then like your evil/selfish.
This has become endemic in todays world for many things. For the good of others or your own good. If you dont agree your bad/evil/anti-social.
My first reaction to anyone now phrasing something in emotionaly ambigous way designt to guilt you into the appropriate response is a hard NO. Even if i might support whatever cause/person/project, they just lost my support and it is a hard no.
I catch my kids doing it, repeating something they heard. I shut them down hard and then explain why. Explain where a factual argument could be made for or against it and then that you now need to check who it is that will recieve your bounty/support and how much gets scraped off before any final recipients actually see it, if they ever do.
My wife has a favorite expression/question. Whats in it for you? Not her but the other person soluciting something through emotional manipulation. Its a good question.
As NYS Politicritters approve signing such legislation in to State Law (of course excellent "professional medical judgment" and "compassion" prevail on paper), I will not stop acquiring my survival equipment and skills.
Thanks for the post! The warning siren is clearly sounding!
All of them still with jobs other than sole practitioner did. Omission or commission just as guilty. And to this day those that work for the man won't discuss it (ask me how I know).
Just to take a contrarian view. I know of a lot if doctors, nurses, pharmacists etc.. that refused shots and were very cautious recomending or in giving them.
A lot if them took a lot of grief or pressure but none were fired. In our area that im aware of. My area of SC didnt go as far or as bad as some i heard of in general. Lot of them used religious grounds to avoid takung them and a lit used medical issues preventing getting them.
Yes that's rare, most places those got fired or even lost their license. The exceptions I heard about were hospitals giving the hard to hire specialists (think brain surgeon) automatic exemptions whether asked for or not.
When I heard about this yesterday, I realized that Canada had fallen. This means the USA is in trouble. If we end up in a war with China, Canada will side with them. The UK is likely to be in a civil war. And, most of our allies will either be fighting Russia or fighting their own civil wars. Everyone else will likely remain neutral or side with China.
I don’t see why this inevitable penultimate development is a surprise to anyone; the next and final step is elimination of the underlying medical condition for victims and taking from the undesirables.

"Paging Mr. Niven, Mister Larry Niven."

For your 4th moving violation, as an example from Mr. Niven.

I can remember a time when I did not believe in 'the slippery slope', but as I age, I get to see more and more of it in real world action.
My mother used to talk about "the slippery slope". The older I get, the wiser she seems.
Memorable line from a young man... "The older I get the smarter my dad gets"

That is frightening
Just a reminder that Luigi is not alone...
My family is no longer on the donor side!

Society is getting closer and closer to targeted "suicide" to make money off of organs. It's barbaric and satanic.
It’s China…
My sentiments exactly. We trust doctors way too much.
So many of them gave away that trust to feed into the COVID scam.
All of them still with jobs other than sole practitioner did. Omission or commission just as guilty. And to this day those that work for the man won't discuss it (ask me how I know).
Mr. Dog: Ref your concerns: I'll rake, "How to tell me you are Pol Pot, without specifically stating that you are Pol Pot" for $800.
AND, I'd like a vowel.
Shortly after Oregon legalized death by doctor, a lady got a letter saying that was the only treatment they'd pay for.
That one, I remember, because the medical company heard about it and GAVE HER THE MEDICATION. Local news covered it, at least....
It's a pattern that's happened several times-- the offer to kill the expensive person, and then private charity (OK business charity) helps.
I also know several folks who were "encouraged" to hurry up and die so their relatives had them out of the way.
That's besides the emotional abuse of incredibly vulnerable folks.
Nothing legally actionable, but we KNOW it.
"You damned sure don’t involve the very people whose focus should be the vow of “First, Do No Harm.”"
They violated that oath back in Covid and have shown no interest in redemption. So very few exceptions.
Just to take a contrarian view. I know of a lot if doctors, nurses, pharmacists etc.. that refused shots and were very cautious recomending or in giving them.

I do wish there was an ocean between us and "America's hat".
America's Hat is becoming a Redcap Fae...
Yes. More and more.
I don’t see why this inevitable penultimate development is a surprise to anyone; the next and final step is elimination of the underlying medical condition for victims and taking from the undesirables.
This is morally corrupt. No ifs and or buts.
Tim: physical ocean, moral ocean, or "YES!"?
Larry Niven warned us about this 50 years ago. JFC...
The organleggers, and the organ harvesting for more and more crimes.
