Now that Ian’s gotten the Usual Suspects all up in a lather about Current Events, time for a less-polarising post.

For those new to this Substack, we have a publishing house called Raconteur Press. We cut our teeth publishing anthologies, and have recently branched out into novels and boy’s adventure books.

We just published our latest anthology — Magic Malfunction — our 51st anthology.

Rita’s next Moggie Noir anthology is sub-titled ‘Dames, Derringers, & Detectives’, and is being assembled for publication on 02 MAY 25.

Wally Waltner, who edited the ‘Magic Malfunction’ anthology for us, graciously gave us his manuscript for ‘Overture of Shadow’, and Lisa and Cedar are putting the finishing touches on it. It should be in everyone’s hot little hands in early May.

Which reminds us — we ran across some misconceptions regarding our process during the ‘Valley of Fire’ launch, and we think we should probably address them here.

Raconteur Press serializes our adult novels. This means that we initially release each one digitally, in chunks of about 20k+/- words.

If you don’t want the digital serials, just be patient. After the novel has been released in serial form, we release the full, complete novel in both paperback and ebook format.

The other misconception runs something along the lines of, “What happens if the author doesn’t finish the novel?”

We have the entire novel in paw before we start publishing. If we start the serials, they will be finished, we assure you.

That should cover the part that we’re supposed to be making money at.
