Well, since Bush in Houston already had them, they thought it would be fine to put the installations in DFW too! Except Abbot is now looking at Bush and DFW for all the “other“ little things that they’ve been trying to do.
The way that the ACLU and others read the Establishment Clause is far too broad.
The Constitution was written in the recent memory of the Church of England, with the King as head of the Church, and with established authority taking control of both civil and Church law.
In this area, I have a particular problem with Islam, as it is both a civil / political authority, and is claimed to be a religion. (Yes, I did say that.)
As a political authority, Islam claims supremacy over all other laws, governments, and religions. We will have to find a way to effectively deal with Islam and Islamics without tearing down our either our society or our basic religious tolerance.
This may have to be defining Islam as a hostile political organization and excluding it and its adherents from the nation entirely.
It'd be shame if some crude, semi-literate or dsylexic Texan mistook wudu for d__d__. But there's always that one-off yahoo from Brownsville or Sun Ray just trying to start trouble.
Yeah, and if the Episcopal Bishop of Massachusetts were to issue a statement about sponsoring holy water founts, there'd be an indignant public outcry.
The Establishment clause has been reversed in its meaning and usage in modern times, because it was designed to protect the United States from having a first church of the United States.
It was not meant as an excuse to ban Christianity from everywhere and allow all the other religions in.
Because there have been things like Muslim jihad dice games in schools, the same schools that banned the ten commandments.
See also Buddhist meditation disguised as "mindfulness" being pushed into schools as well.
I remember in 1958 in Long Beach, CA we elementary students were allowed (with parental consent) to be walked over in groups to the church of our choice for religious studies one day a week for 2 hours. California. Go figure, huh? I went to the Methodist church because Grandma lived 2 houses away. She could be relied upon to bake cookies.
Don't get me started on how Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist Association has been reinterpreted as "government people can show no signs of religion whatsoever*", instead of the original, that the government could not dictate a person's faith.
* If the religion is some flavor of Judeo-Christian, that is. If the religion is the one promoted by Karl Marx, or created by a certain seventh century camel-humpting kiddie diddler then it's perfectly fine according to those who have been doing the twisting.
A number of states had established religions in the founding era. MA was the last to abolish it in 1833. Took a Supreme Court decision in 1947 to apply 1A to states. Without reading it, it was probably 14A based. Took another 70 years to get the 2A applied and there is still insurrection going on.
I take it that the followers of Mohammed (That bit of political correctness physically hurts and gives me intestinal gas.) wont have an issue when I wash the bacon grease off my Christian hands at the hand washing station.
Religion is to Progressives an excuse and a cover to push whatever idea satisfies their feels of the moment.
Couldn't agree more. Take it one step further - even if private funds were used to purchase the foot washes, installing them on government property is still evidence of government preference. How many counties and cities have forbidden Christmas decorations on civic buildings, even when privately funded? Same thing, just not the preferred religion.
Add to all that the establishment clause has nothing to do with Christmas decorations or foot washing. It is supposed to prevent a state established religion.
And what about ultra compliant religious Muslims who use a smooth stone or their left hand to do their post-poop ablutions? Where do the dirty stones go? Do they get to use the sink for their hand or must they have fresh sand? These issues are all a shlippery slope.
That’s not symptomatic of Islam, that’s how all of the 3rd world acts. The whole of Islam is one of two things - either they’re working diligently to convert or conquer every country that is not Muslim or they’re lying. It’s as simple as that. Even a non-practicing Christian believes in Christ. I can’t see any Muslim who doesn’t believe in enough of their law to undermine non-believing countries.
Allow 7th century barbarians into the country and you have to deal with 7th century barbarians. Some things never change.
Don't know the exact number of countries I have defecated in but let's call it maybe 35. Even the worst gas station toilet in rural Mississippi rates higher that 95% of the facilities I seen outside of CONUS. Gad...the blue bottle flies by the millions, your eyes, nose and ears running with tears, watery snot, and wax...the rare toilet paper available that was like wax paper that smeared rather than wiped...ask any Serviceman if that isn't part of his VA PTSD claim. If it isn't you're missing an extra 10-20%.
I have commented that we seem to have an "unofficial State Religion" and that is islam, since Obama. the adherents of that religion have been protected by their behavior that would have gotten everybody else locked up. We have state and local governments that ignore Easter/passover but will throw Ramadan flags up in a mecca Minute(See what I did there). we have had mobs of the followers of peace attack people and there have been no repercussions for that action. it is like everyone is afraid to do anything about it for "Offending" CAIR or someone that will raise a fuss.
Love to see the Establishment Clause be used as a reason for denying immigration of large numbers of people of the Islamic "religion." Seems like letting them in is helping them establish a Caliphate inside our own borders.
Well said, sir. In Re.: ACLU: I disagree/dislike much about them. That said, I'd rather have them around; they are -- or were -- a gutsy bunch that annoys the heck out of the Powers That Be. But yeah, sir, they're not too fond of the Second Amendment.
Well writ.
Even if they were paid for with private funds, they're still on gov property. They can fuk right off.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure I remember seeing that even a privately funded Nativity scene can’t be put on public property.
Upon deeper investigation, turns out it was 'public' funds, but blamed on a contrator's 'mistake' in the filing... yeah, right...
Well, since Bush in Houston already had them, they thought it would be fine to put the installations in DFW too! Except Abbot is now looking at Bush and DFW for all the “other“ little things that they’ve been trying to do.
Kansas City has them, too.

Be a shame if someone dropped a chicharron in one.
Waste of a chicharron.
It'd be shame if some crude, semi-literate or dsylexic Texan mistook wudu for d__d__. But there's always that one-off yahoo from Brownsville or Sun Ray just trying to start trouble.
(edited for spelling)
They just advanced a bill in MA to do an Islamic issues office. Not sure if anyone has sued yet, and if not, why not?

I'm so tired of the BS.

People have been mis-reading that sentence for at least 50 years now.
AN ESTABLISHMENT
is not
THE ESTABLISHMENT
It's amazing how many of these people don't understand English.
I can call myself Donald Trump, but that does not mean I am really Donald Trump.
Likewise, islam calls itself a religion, but it is not. It is a political terrorist organization.
It's stated goal is world domination and if you dare to leave Islam you will be tracked down and killed.
Zero religions do this.
We need a law in the United States that says Islam is not a religion.
Japan and Poland seem to be doing fine without Islam.
