Publisher Stuff
You don't have to be crazy to work here, but it helps.
Now on to something a little lighter — mostly because we’re starving publishers1 and we need to push the business. So we can actually get paid.
The 2026 year plan for Raconteur Press is now officially out, and boy, is it a doozy.
As y’all may — or may not — know, we published an anthology every two weeks during 2024 (actually we were going for 24, but got 26 done), and we’ve been doing the same for 20252. 2026 we’re going to try something a little different.
As Lisa and Cedar say in that video, we’re only going to publish one antho a month for 2026. For those of you who are afraid we’re slacking off … just wait.
As Cedar and Ian mention in the above video, we’ll also be publishing one Boy’s Adventure book each month. And while our call for Boy’s Adventure manuscripts is still open, please do remember:
Action/Adventure, exploration themes with the boy(s) as the central, active character(s).
Male main characters only. Girls can be part of the gang, but no romance or cute girls creating the conflict in the story.
Middle grade—accessible to kids age 10 years and up. Don’t be afraid to challenge younger readers!
Wholesome, healthy family relationships. No unintelligent parents or abusive situations.
No crude language, excessive violence, or sexual themes.
Submissions should be sent to racpresssubmissions (at) gmail.com.
When it comes to our Boy’s Adventure books, those guidelines are firm. If you send us a manuscript pushing the limits posted above, Rita or Cedar will send it back with a polite suggestion that you publish it yourself.
Cedar and Ian again. Yes, you heard that right — because we’re insane, we’ll be publishing two (2) novels a month in 2026. Ugh.
And, finally:
David Badurina, Jonna, and Mike Burke. Yeah, on top of all the publishing we’re doing above, David will be publishing a separate anthology with us each quarter, with at least two of those anthos directed more towards boys.
So … each month of 2026, Raconteur Press will be publishing:
An anthology, and
A Boy’s Adventure book, and
Two novels, and
Another anthology each quarter.
Every month. Yeah, we’re insane. We know.
Ian, and several RacPress folks will be at P-Con this weekend — come by and say, “Hi!” if you’re in the MetroMess. Rita will be down on Saturday, if you want to meet Ian’s better half.
And so is the Best of 2024 anthology collection! The best stories of the 2024 anthology run, chosen by the authors who submitted to those anthologies.
That should do it. Blogging will probably be light this weekend due to the convention, but we’ll see what we can do.
Ian and Rita.
Authors get paid first, then our staff, and the company third. Ian and Rita get paid last.
To mis-quote Kelly Grayson, we’re at the point where we can fall down a flight of stairs and accidentally publish an anthology on the way down.

Sounds like the wife and I got our new bookcases just in time. Looking forward to filling the empty slots!
Remember to increase your caffeine intake. Common sense, I know. But I had to say it.
