Of Kings
And hypocrises
Yesterday was the second in a series of “No Kings” protests (unless, of course, you lived in a country with a long-established monarchy, then they changed the title to “No Tyrants”)1.
I, of course, should be heartily behind this, as my DNA comes from the Scottish Highlands and Islands district, and has traditionally taken it in the neck2 from various English kings — however, the rampant hypocrisy of the current version mildly annoys me.
Setting aside for the nonce the rather obvious issue that no-one in the United States actually lives under a king or a dictator, it is quite evident to me that the only reason these little bugsnipes are protesting is because the lizard currently occupying the Oval Office isn’t wearing the proper colours. These protestors would be perfectly content to live under a King from their side of the aisle.
Don’t believe me? Part of the case of the red arse the protestors have against Trump is immigration enforcement. Immigration enforcement being conducted due to President Obama’s unConstitutional, unilateral, and very imperial actions.
Don’t believe me?
Congress refused to pass immigration law that President Obama wanted, so he just did it by Executive Order. How very … king-like.
And that wasn’t the only time:
“Top 10 Ways Obama Violated the Constitution during His Presidency.”
I’ve seen the protestors at these “No Kings” rallies. The majority of them were adult during the Obama terms … where were their rallies and protests then?
It’s simple, folks — you either want a king, or you don’t. You don’t get to cheer when Team Blue has a proto-King, and then get your panties all in a bunch because someone told you that Team Red Orange has a proto-King.
And lest the Gentle Reader think Obama was a one-off, I note — with a great deal of cynical amusement — that the same bunch of numpties protesting “tyranny” were enthusiastically endorsing tyranny during the Recent COVID Stupidity Over-Reaction.
Politicians mandating lock-down for the serfs, but not for themselves? How very… royal. It wasn’t that long ago, so where were the “No Kings” folks3 then?
Politicians deciding that outdoor church gatherings were hotbeds of infection, but outdoor BLM rallies were perfectly safe? Huh. Some animals being more equal than other animals seems a touch … imperial.
Vaccine passports required just to walk into a restaurant or bar? Tyranny. Period. And where were these “No Kings” protestors4 during this?
The “No Kings” folks cheered when a man was arrested for paddleboarding on an empty sea; they sniffed approvingly as they snitched out friends and neighbors to the State for daring to have fun; they clapped when children were forced to wear useless masks, and they opined piously that I deserved to have Big Tech de-link my old blog and shadowban my social media posts because I dared to question the God-Emperor Fauci.
These “No Kings” protestors are hypocritical bastards who are actually just fine with kings as long as the king is from the Blue5 side of the aisle; and they think tyranny is just peachy, as long as they can wield the tyranny against their fellow citizens.
Alleged adults, LARPing their various fantasies and throwing tantrums in the streets — for what? Trump is still your President, and — please, do — show me exactly what you have changed?
Pfagh.
Ian
Can you feel my eyes roll?
See: Butcher Cumberland and the Highland Pacification.
Clapping like monkeys and locking down, of course.
Demanding that everyone knuckle under to tyranny, of course.
Blue Lizard Good! Red Orange Lizard Bad!

IMO Too many of those idiots would support Joseph Stalin. 😡
I think you give them too much credit. They’d shown that their cultural and intellectual mandate is null and void.
They “believe in science” without understanding what makes the scientific discovery work
They “support the Constitution” without understanding how it’s supposed to work or how to interpret it
They “fight the Nazis” until the day its time to send more weapons to the country that openly celebrates actual Nazi collaborators and prides itself in honoring them
They opposed “banning book” but they’d happily shut down and deplore anyone they disagree with
Their best response to any criticism is whataboutism, stretched past any reason
