So, amnesty for illegal aliens¹ is back on the table — I say back on the table, because everyone pimping for amnesty tends to give the impression that amnesty has never been done in the United States before.

Oh, but it has.

Let us take a look at the Simpson-Mazzoli Act — also known as the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 — signed into law by President Ronald Reagan in November of 1986.

The Simpson-Mazzoli Act had three stated components, and two unstated. The three stated components were:

1. Amnesty for the illegal aliens who were already here (which the Democrats wanted) in return, the Republicans would get;

2. A strengthened and hardened border, and

3. Laws preventing employers from hiring illegal aliens.

The two unstated components were:

1. Wishful Thinking (Republicans); and

2. Backstabbing As Usual (Democrats).

As a result, three million (3,000,000) illegal aliens received amnesty; in return the laws against employing illegal aliens were watered down to the point of not being enforceable². As to locking down the border — seen the news lately?

And as far as amnesty goes — in 1986 we gave amnesty to 3 million illegal aliens in return for “fixing immigration”. Does anyone honestly think our immigration system is “fixed”?

This time they promise³ that they’ll fix our busted immigration system … if we give amnesty to another 16 million (16,000,000) illegal aliens.⁴

I’m not a naïf — I understand that we’re going to get done good and hard, but this time I’d like some chocolates and a movie before the amnesty.

I want the laws controlling immigration to have teeth and be in place prior to any amnesty. And any amnesty be under rigid and firm control.

What sort of teeth? A good start would be that if you employ an illegal alien, whomever signed off on employing that alien goes to prison and your company is fined 50% of the calculated total profits during the time the illegal alien was in your employ.

Make illegal aliens radioactive to employ, and they’ll start immigrating legally.

“Ok, but what do you mean by ‘rigid and firm control’ of amnesty?”

We can start with some basics.

Have you and your family attempted to assimilate to American culture? No? Get out. If you’ve been here for five years and you can’t perform basic functions in English, you’re not assimilating. There’s the door. No amnesty, and any amnesty offered gets immediately cancelled.

Have you and your family maintained an American code of morality? No? Get out. No more than three traffic infractions per family member per year. No misdemeanors. No felonies. Your daughter rack up five traffic tickets in 2024? The entire family gets out. Your son get deferred adjudication for sexual assault? Everybody on the plane. Arranged a marriage for your 12-year-old cousin? The entire family gets on the boat. No amnesty, and any amnesty offered gets immediately cancelled.

Have you and your family abstained from anti-American activities? No? Get out. Your son doesn’t get to march in a protest yelling, “Death to Amerikkka!” Pack your stuff. Your kids get on social media and swear allegiance to ISIS? Goodbye. Anyone in your family provide any sort of aid, allegiance, support, or comfort to terror groups or any other declared enemy of America? Go home, and don’t come back. No amnesty, and any amnesty offered gets immediately cancelled.

Amnesty applies to you, your spouse, and minor children. Not your uncle, your grandfather, your grown children, or your fourteen squillion “cousins”.

If you’re a military-age male, and you can’t maintain a legal means of financially supporting yourself and your family, well, your home country needs you more than we do. Goodbye. Yes, that includes any form of government assistance. The United States taxpayer is over-taxed as it is, we don’t need to be importing new drains on our wallets.

That’s my wish list. What will we actually get? Well, remember the “Backstabbing As Usual” note above? The Leftist part of the Fed.gov will fight kicking and screaming against any actual control on amnesty, and if they don’t get full, uncontrolled, unfettered amnesty, next budget they’ll cancel any funds for actual enforcement of amnesty controls. And the Republican Squish Party will let them get away with it. Again.

1. Yes, that’s the proper term. If illegal aliens are “undocumented immigrants” then burglars are “undocumented guests”.
