I’m drinking a cup of coffee and watching the sun paint the Eastern horizon in shades of pinks and oranges that I don’t have adequate words to describe. There aren’t any clouds, so the sunrise will be brief this first day of 2025.
Looking back, 2024 was a bit of a dumpster fire, but — honestly — probably less so than I thought at the time. There were health scares, Rita more so than me this time, but they resolved themselves as these things often do. Jobs were changed, but for the better. Finances were tight, but we made out.
We made new friends in 2024. We laughed a lot. We ate good food. We made some good memories.
It’s the custom to make resolutions on the New Year, but I’m wary of those. I shall, I think, make some '“Tries”.
I will try to limit my social media time more in 2025. I don’t think social media is actually healthy for anyone, and I know that it doesn’t do me much good — by “social media” I mean the micro-blogging platforms like Facebook, Twixter, and the like. I think I shall try to take the time wasted on Facebook, turn it towards blogging, and see if that helps, well … everything. Anything.
I think I shall try to take more time to go fishing, hunting, tinkering, puttering, and to go to some weekend schools.
I will definitely take more time with Rita.
I wish you, family, friends, fans, and Gentle Readers, the very happiest and best New Year.
Ian
Amen, LawDog. Amen. May all y'all find more joy than sadness this year. 🤞
Sounds like a nice, healthy way to spend 2025.
