Conservative Speakers
Need to get serious about their safety.
So, you’ve decided to engage in cross-aisle discussion with the barking moonbats of the Left, free-range socialists, People Of Differing Political Ideas.
Good on you. Understand — I think you’re preaching to brick walls, but I admire your idealism. You’re better people than I am.
However, we need to have a frank discussion about the 800-pound gorilla most don’t want to think about. An 800-pound gorilla that has been willingly indoctrinated to believe that you are evil, and can be quite happily violent about it.
Not only that, but when they get caught1 being violent, the sanctions2 they receive are … minimal3 … at best. If local4 law enforcement5 can even be bothered to do something about it. Other than blaming the victims — skirt being too short, and all that.
So. The discussion you need to have right now is about security. If you’re going to a college to talk to people, you need to have your own security. If you’re going to a riot to report on it, you need to have your own security.
And by “security” I don’t mean the tatted-up knuckledragger who’s good with violence — although they can be handy — I mean someone who’ll perform Site Threat Assessments prior to you arriving at the location. Good security will minimise threats before-hand, and mitigate threats during, without needing to crunch anyone.
And there’s a really easy check you can do to see if you’ve got security or knuckledraggers — do they have your blood type, known allergies, medical conditions, and personal contact data already noted and carried on their person?
If not, gently remind them to keep their knuckles off the carpet.
Don’t get me wrong — 256 square inches of tattoo ink, a contractor beard, and the ability and readiness to throw hands can be almighty comforting, but your medical and personal contact info neatly printed on a 3x5 card and laminated6 adds a layer of confidence7 that can’t really be put into words.
Good, trained security types will spot issues before you even arrive on-scene, will spot developing issues you may miss, try to defuse such, and will have PACE8 game plans set up covering most likely scenarios.
Proper security will reduce — not eliminate — your chances of getting Charlie Kirk’d. Or winding up in ICU with a cerebral haemorrhage. And these are very real risks during this current Cycle of Stupid.
I full realize that properly-trained security professionals aren’t cheap. You should also remember that funerals aren’t cheap either. Neither is a lifetime of neurological deficits.
I didn’t take you to raise, so Your Mileage May Vary and all that.

Eric Clanton, adjunct professor of Philosophy. Four counts of felony Aggravated Assault for smashing Trump supporters in the head with a bike lock. Plea bargained to one misdemeanor count, 3 years probation.
Colinford Mattis. Firebombed a NYPD patrol vehicle in a “moment of passion” during the George Floyd riots. 366 days in prison.
Nicholas Roske. Attempted Murder of a Supreme Court Justice. 97 months in Federal prison.
If you’re Andy Ngo — or any other “conservative” reporter — Portland PD doesn’t even pretend to give a damn about you getting assaulted by leftists.
And, of course, Chicago PD refusing to aid Federal agents under on-going attack.
Bodily fluids can smear even the best ink. Just saying.
“Improved traumatic outcome”.

It's easy to envision the formerly self-professed libertarians wringing their hands over the True Things you've said here, Ian. They bought a lie that they have to agree with everything on the right or not at all, but only need be in agreement on a few things with the left to side with them. It's all in the spirit of fair-dealing even-handedness, you see. They allowed themselves to be carved off as efficiently as a sheep ever was. Baaad choice.
Myself, I'm defaulting to avoiding crowds and potentially volatile situations altogether. You think you know someone, but life can surprise you.
Every time I am forced to go thru intrusive airport "security" checks, it reinforces the idea that the bad guys seem to be winning. I absolutely understand the need for security, but, in true fashion, the over-reactive crowd seems to have won.
